The progress so far has been a little slow in regards to our filming as we had arranged to film in the college last week. We came across a few problems as some of our actors were hard to get hold of or didn't get back to us on time, as well as having a problem with finding a hair piece or wig for our main character (Erin) to wear in the scenes in 'school'. We had arrived at the costume hire department of the Performing Arts building too late and the woman in charge had already left so we had a problem there. Last week, my working partner Mia and I both had University interviews or were away on alternate days so we could not film then or arrange anything properly as we did not see each other.
It is very unfortunate that we couldn't film on these days but we plan to film by the end of this week so i am going to give out call sheets three days in advance so that our actors can make the time or change any arrangements that we can't work around. The first day of filming will be done in the college to make things easier for the first day and then we will film the second day in the outdoor locations which will involve us getting the bus to the subway location and also filming when it is getting quite dark. The third day of shooting will be the indoor locations to film the kitchen and bedroom scenes.
The problems that occurred last time were due to a lack of communication between us and the actors as we have separate lessons so cannot discuss filming very often but as long as we organise in advance and I speak to all the actors today I am sure it will go more smoothly next time. I will just need to ensure that everyone knows where and when they are required to film and possibly arrange to meet all of them at one time in advance to explain fully what will be happening and roughly how long they will be required to film. Booking equipment will need to be done in advance as well to make sure that we can have the camera, tape and tripod when they are required. I will also make sure that a wig or hair piece and a false/toy knife have been hired in advance to save from any last-minute rushing around before filming.
As soon as we finish filming which will be hopefully by the end of this week as long as there are no further issues or obstacles, we can start the editing process next week to give us as long as possible to make our film trailer to the highest standard. We planned to film this Wednesday but on the day our main actress did not show up and the equipment hire was not open which was extremely unfortunate so we rearranged for the day after with a new actress to play Erin who is more reliable. Thursday's scenes are to be filmed in Sandsfoot block at college on Thursday 27th January. The scenes we will be filming are those set in the classroom and corridor. I have also filled out a Risk Assessment form for filming to highlight and dangers of problems that may occur when filming in advance, in order to prevent or prepare for them. I have received permission as well from the Head of sixth Form to use the classroom for half an hour for filming so everything is ready.
